COMPTON, Los Angeles County — Drivers, cyclists and people walking in Compton can use the city’s Public Works project directory to track planned and ongoing work on streets and bridges.
Among the listed projects are replacements of the Compton Boulevard and Wilmington Avenue bridges over Compton Creek, annual residential street rehabilitation efforts and a Wilmington Avenue pedestrian and bicycle improvement project. The directory also identifies pothole repairs and freeway ramp pavement rehabilitation.
Do the listings mean construction is complete?
No. Entries include different project stages and some older estimated completion dates. A line in a capital-improvement directory can describe a design project, a construction plan or work already underway; residents should inspect the specific project’s recent notices to determine its present status.
What to check before driving
For expected disruptions, locate the project notice for your street and look for updated dates, detours, parking restrictions and contractor contacts. A 2026 project schedule may have changed with weather, permits or field conditions. The City of Compton’s Public Works Department maintains the official information and can explain a particular project’s status.
